OVERVIEW & MISSION STATEMENT
Since 1948 Ritz and Johnson Fashion Eyecare Center has served the Optometric needs of families throughout Marion County and beyond. For over half a century, our commitment to the founding principles of providing the very best eye care and exemplary customer service has never changed and it never will.
Drs. Ritz, Johnson, Willeford and Cheney are located at 150 SE 17th Street, Suite 100. Directly across the street from the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and School.
In general, most people think that an eye exam is simply the finding of how well you see or do not see. Drs. Ritz, Johnson, Willeford and Cheney do not stop with the visual exam, but continue with the most important information for the patient, the visual health exam.
Our doctors are looking for glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration a well as other sight robbing eye diseases.
Are you concerned about your child’s vision? We specialize in children’s optometric care. Often time’s children will not complain, as they do not realize that other children may see more clearly. We encourage parents to have their children’s vision examined before school age, or shortly thereafter, as visual problems may significantly contribute to learning difficulties.
Glaucoma, the leading cause of blindness in the U.S., most often occurs in people over the age of 40. Glaucoma cannot be prevented, but if diagnosed and treated early, it can be controlled. Vision lost to glaucoma cannot be restored. That is why the American Optometric Association recommends annual eye examinations.
Ritz and Johnson Fashion Eyecare Center offer retinal topography and visual field testing, the very latest in glaucoma detection.
This state of the art technology takes only minutes and could be the most valuable minutes of your life.
Nearsightedness or myopia is a vision condition, which close objects are seen clearly, but distance objects do not come into proper focus. One of our board certified Optometrists could prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses to optically correct this condition.
Presbyopia is a vision condition in which it is difficult to focus on close objects. This condition usually begins in the mid 40’s and is a natural part of the aging process of the eye. It is not a disease and it cannot be prevented. It can only be corrected through prescribed eyewear or contacts.
