Dr. Glatter-Götz (Dr. GG) took a slightly scenic route to optometry, earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida in 2003 before receiving her Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in 2008. After a residency in ocular disease at the Malcom Randall VA Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, she spent nearly a decade serving those who serve. This journey included four years as a civilian contract optometrist for the Army at Landstuhl US Military Hospital in Germany, where she provided essential eye care to the troops, their spouses and children, as well as retired veterans who resided overseas.
In August 2016, the pull of home brought her back to Florida to join Ritz & Johnson Eyecare, taking over for Dr. Ray Johnson following his retirement after 45 years of patient care in the Ocala community. Knowing she has big shoes to fill, she is dedicated to serving her community with equal care and compassion and enjoys seeing patients of all ages — from pre-school and school-aged children to mature patients, helping them maintain healthy vision through every stage of life.
When she isn't bringing clarity to her patients, Dr. GG is a wife and mom of three who embraces her beautiful, sometimes chaotic family life. Off the clock, she serves as 'Director of Transportation' for her daughters' ballet schedules, a loud and over-caffeinated cheerleader at her son's swim meets, and, most recently, a 'Chronic Worrier' for her (swim-obsessed) driving teenager. She also proudly wears the 'dog-mom' badge for her look-alike mini-goldendoodle, Lola, who is the best dog in the world (as all dogs are).
Dr. GG loves all (well, almost all) types of music, is an avid stargazer, and she wishes she could speak all the languages of the world. For now, she speaks English and Albanian, maintains a rather dusty Italian, and knows just enough French and German to navigate a new city without getting (too) lost. She and her husband love to travel with their family, giving their children the opportunity to see the world, experience different traditions, and see firsthand how various cultures celebrate love, life, family, and friendship.
